3.00 in Dallas. Other countries have imposed huge taxes on gas to try to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels and it worked. I think the prices are reasonable for the amount of fossil fuels we have left. I just wish the oil companies would spend some of their million dollar daily profits on the environment or alternative fuel sources.

I commend Mike Hunt for a good answer. I agree that the prices are higher than we are used to but considering everything going on and the amount of oil left, it's not unreasonable. I wish more people had clear heads about it.
And I agree that oil companies could be better using that profit and not pissing off so many people but at the same time I'm not hating on them, I don't buy into all the "evil oil corporations" stuff.

Twin Cities, MN: This morning when I went to work they were $2.89. Then when I left work, it was $3.16!!!!!!!!!! And I live in an area that usually has lower gas prices than the surrounding suburbs. Did something happen today (Aug. 3) that made them go up?? I just read an article today about how they went down this week. But $.27 in one day? That's outragous!
