I accidentally deleted some needed folders in the Documents & Settings folder. Now, if I try to activate my Guest account, the icon shows but doesn't log on. Also, if I try to create a new "Guest" type account, that won't log on either. All I could think of was to do a "clean reinstall" of XP. What do y'all think? God bless you all!

No you do not need an internet connection. When installing Windows XP all the files come directly from the CD not from the internet.

I believe this site will help you if you do not know how to do a clean install their are steps in text also has pictures of the step-by-step process:

An internet connection is only required if you want to register with Microsoft. It is not even required when you go to "activate" windows. All you need for that is a valid install key and a phone.

Good Luck ...

Boot from the CD and choose the repair option. Worth a shot before you format your hard drive and lose everything.
