I am suggesting such drastic actions, however, I think the movie does a pretty good job of showing things can snowball and bowl us over.

I meant to that I am not suggesting such actions. I would never condone that. Sorry.

The film is very thought provoking (so are the comics). And yes, it is possible for things to snowball into that given the current events going on.

Example:
In V for Vendetta, a newscaster reports on the second Civil War in the USA. It is possible for the country to have another civil war over various topics considered controversial that people feel very strongly about:

*illegal immigration, particularly illegal immigrants from Mexico
*abortion
*the war in Iraq
*Pure politics-- liberals v. conservatives

All of these things have the potential to snowball into a civil war at sometime in the future, despite how unlikely it may seem. (I'm not saying they will-- from a purely analytical point of view, they could. Personally, I hope they don't, because I'd hate to see the US torn into warring sections like it was during the Civil War of the 1860's.)

It is also possible for many other aspects of the film to play out-- after all, the film does a VERY good job displaying the what-ifs of the world we live in today.

given v for vendetta was written 20 years ago or so as an allegory about the then thatcher govt in UK i find the fact it is still relevant today kinda disturbing

just like guy fawkes in general ~ a celebration of a catholic (terrorist?) plot to kill a govt

yet it is celebrated every nov 5th ?

Ignore Lynx..hes the one with the problem. "V" def made me think
Remember, the Chancelor was based primarily on Hitler and all that only happened about 50 years ago! It could happen again if we let it.

Remember: The people should not be afraid of their government.
The government should be afraid of it's people

that was an awesome movie... after watching it in the theatres, we spent literally all night talking about all of the details and hidden messages in the movie... funny how it makes you think that it is true.. this world keeps repeating history over and over again... whats the difference in the current events and the events that occured in the past...
