It often appears that the governments of the countries of the world are not the people in charge. It seems to me there is a group of rich/intelectual/influencal/possibly criminal people who control even governments. What do you think?

Oh, I'm positive there are. Not so much secret, as just don't publicise themselves. Politicians influence on world events are diminishing - big business and organised criminals call the shots, indirectly. Particular multinationals which can topple governments and industries like the oil industry which can put in puppet regimes such as the Bush administration which serves their interests.

Serious answer. I don't think there is just one secret group running things. I think that in each domain there is always one or more at the top maintaining a tight grip on things. There may be liaisons between groups, like back in JFK's day when there was co-mingling between the CIA, the Mafia, and the Workers Unions. One of which killed off Kennedy. In NASCAR it's Billy France. In Israel it's a little ol' man that looks a lot like Yoda, and has the same powers. In Russia it's the Russian Mafia. In Massachusetts, it's this guy DDDDDDDDDDDDa;dfltiqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq helppppmeeesomeoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

it is no longer secret that Freemasons through their agents worldwide are now controlling the political and economic machinery of the world order. it has been a popular secret but has been made an open affair by president bush (the daddy) when he declared in 1990 that the invasion of Iraq was not just about fighting Saddam but to establish "a new world order". so please point no where else it is the Freemasons through their lodges worldwide.

It would not surprise me if the leaders were all in some masonic group. Conspiracy theories are amusing and no doubt Bush and co have a good laugh at them.
