You can give it but it dosn't actually do anything according to research.

simethicone (e.g. Mylicon®, Infacol®) is used to REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF GAS in the stomach.
Simethicone is added to disperse foam by encouraging bubbles to join together, thereby making it easier for them to be brought up with a burp. Simethicone has NO significant effect on gas in the intestines.

two systematic reviews (search dates 1996 and 1999, same 3 RCTs, 136 infants with infantile colic), which found no evidence that simethicone was more effective than placebo. 1 7 One RCT was of unsatisfactory quality. The second RCT (double blind, crossover, 83 infants) compared 0.3 ml of simethicone against placebo before feeds.12 It found no significant difference for colic when rated by carers (28% improved with simethicone, 37% with placebo, 20% with both; effect size for simethicone versus placebo 0.10, 0.27 to 0.08). The third RCT (double blind, crossover trial, 27 infants) compared simethicone with placebo and found no improvement as rated by parental interview, 24 hour diary, or behavioural observation (effect size 0.06, 0.17 to 0.28).13

My daughter had a lot of gas problems when she was a newborn.
The best homemade remedy is:- Heat a pan till its hot n then take it with u near ur baby( b careful abt the distance). Place a cloth on the pan n then place it on ur baby's tummy ( check that the cloth is not very hot, it shuld b bearable for the baby).
Repeat this till the baby feels good. I bet the baby would definitely pass gas shortly n she will be smiling.:)
Second remedy is:- 1 hour after her feeding, place her on her tummy, the pressure wuld help release gases.

Try these remedies n lemme knw if anyone finds it useful.

Best Wishes!!

I gave my boy gas drops (infacol) at 3 weeks. the doctor said its ok and since he really was "bloated" it helped a lot. Dont worry, 2 months old is not too young.

No. I wouldn't have made it through the first two months without them with my first. There's nothing harmful in gas drops.

I started giving my son little tummies drops at 3 days old. It reduces the bubbles in the formula before he even gets it.
