I think Americans should have the courtesy to at least check the original spelling before falsely accusing me of poor grammar.

For example if I write "Gaol" instead of "Jail" people answer my question just to say I've misspelled a word.

Grrrrr

I only accuse people of misspelling a word if it is truly misspelled. (For example, using "their" instead of "they're") I often write "cheques" instead of "checks" and actually find the European spellings refreshing.

Well why are you attempting to spell in the European way while in America anyway- you cannot possibly think that most Americans will have a clue to what the heck you mean by "gaol" or even care to look it's "original" spelling, anyway- get over it- Not everyone is language savvy like you. uuggh!

To my fellow Americans, if you don't do something the way they are used to that follows along with their line of thinking, its wrong and I apologize on their behalf
