Have the Jews got a right to claim a piece of land in the middle east and make it a jewish state with jewish laws. Would it have been such a bad idea to have had a secular palestinian state. with Jews, Muslims and Christians having an equal franchise?

Yes, they do have a right to exist. However people need to realize that one of the main causes of terrorists groups forming is because Israel stole land and is in violation of many U.N. resolutions. The only reason there are no international sanctions against them is because of the U.S. veto power. If the U.N. did its job then many of these terrorists groups would cease to exist and the Middle East would not be so against us.

That's not a question, that's a slur. Israel DOES exist, get over it. Do YOU have a right to exist?

Any attempt to incorporate Muslims into ANY multicultural fabric will be impossible. If you had any sense, or read any newspapers, or understood anything about mid-East history, you would know that. Their entire code is BASED on killing and and ruling over non-Muslims. Muslim Arabs have never cooperated in any shared-power plan, and as is witnessed in Iraq, they can't even live with EACH OTHER without wars and violence.

When Israel was planned out, it included an Arab state for the Palestinians, which the Palestinians rejected wholesale. Like the Palestinians ALWAYS do when ANY peace initiative is offered to them. The P.L.O. Charter called for the destruction of the state of Israel, and the pushing out to sea of ALL Jews in the region. It STILL does.

Christians and Jews have, however, seemed to set their differences aside, and I think they live in harmony in Israel, although I'm sure the more evangelical Christians are not well liked by the more religious Jews.

From what I understand - a Jewish scientist invented a synthetic chemical which enabled the UK to make arms to fight Hitler and his regime. After the war, the scientist was asked by a grateful British Government what payment he wanted. Instead of money, he simply asked for a homeland for the Jews - and as Britain was involved in the Middle East since WW1, and the Palestinians didn't appear to WANT the land - Israel was formed. Now....I suppose there's an argueament about WHOSE land it was in the first place - maybe the Arabs stole it from the Jews in the first place?
What gets me is this - ISLAM is BASED on the Jewish faith. Compare them.....neither eat pork; male children are mutilated by circumcisian; both live their lives based on their faith. Not only That, but they respected each other and lived together peacefully in Spain for years before Isabella and her husband caused them to convert to Christianity....etc etc.
Yes - Israel has the right to exist. But Palestinians have the right to live in peace and equality with them, all as citizens of a shared Nation.

Israel has every right to exist. The sooner this present conflict is over the better. The Palestinians and Hezbollah both started
this present conflict by kidnapping Israeli soldiers .What would any country do under these circumstances .But of course its
innocent civilians that suffer the worst. The Israelis and the Palestinians and of the Lebanese should be allowed to live in peace. What needs to be done is the extermination of the terrorists. But i doubt this will ever happen.

They have a right to a State but they cannot just take land from others and not expect problems. If someone came to your house and stole it from you, you'd be, quite rightly, annoyed at that.

The behaviour of the Israeli and Palestinian leaders are not helping the situation either. Both sides are in the wrong with their violence and the violence simply causes more violence.

I think a compromise could be reached if Israel draw back to the 1967 borders but I can't see that happening.

the land called palestine has been the topic of this discussion since the 1880's.
back then a 2 state solution was kicked around but the arabs and muslims held out.(i'd love to know why.still reading.)
britian's mandate ended the day before Israel read it's declaration of independance.

technically, yes they do. and if you lived how they live you would be doing what they are doing.

personally i feel-
wars have been what draw borders forever, and these borders will not be drawn until someone "wins".

Weren't they suppose to take land in Europe for their state before some crazy *** christian came along with prophecies of Christ's return when the jews return to Israel.

They do have a right to exist. They also can be toppled and invaded.

Of course they do. The 1947 mandate (authorized through the UN) is just fixing a wrong by giving the Jewish people their land back.

Did you just land from Mars? How about a practical question? The Jews have put up with bigotry and hatred for centuries.
