No. As a Floridian, I can tell you that they are being installed every day in coastal areas. Built properly, they can be as strong or stronger than other door options.

It depends:
Which county (Dade county is the strictest)
Which city
What kind of French Door
In historical towns it depends on what color they are.
Some county's require roll down steel doors over doors and windows. These would allow any kind of door or window.
The code gets stricter after a bad hurricane and laxed if its been awhile.
The stronger they are the harder it is to clean up the mess. If your house on the beach gets blown away, your insurance pays you and the government disaster relief pays you.
I think the houses should be made of Bamboo, then they would be easier and cheaper to clean up.
