When you start up my computer (before you get to the welcome screen) it tells you Hardware monitor found an error enter power setup menu for details. F1 to continue F2 to enter menu. Well, I've went into the menu but dont know what to do to fix the problem. And if you just ignore that it said that and go on bout your business evetually the tower shuts off, the moitor will stay on, along with the speakers, and printer. But the tower shuts off and you cannt push the button to turn the power back on. You have to unplug the tower for a minute, and then the push the button to turn power back on. Please any assist would be great.

My best guess at this is that you have a fan that is not working properly. Computers will perform a quick self-test when powering up and it sounds like it detects that a fan is not working. You may be able to specifically determine this in the setup menus (your F2 option), but be VERY careful not to change settings in there. (If you do happen to, there is usually an option to restore default settings.) Many computer systems will have an area that will report fan speeds, if they are working, or another message if they are not working.

The reason why I think it is a fan is that I think what is happening is your computer is shutting off because your processor is overheating. (I've personally experienced this before.) If this is the case, you should get it fixed before you damage the processor and end up costing you a LOT more $$ to fix. A fan would run you probably $10-20 in parts. You could call some computer shops and see if you can find one that would charge you a lower labor rate to replace the fan. It should only take them about 10 minutes tops to do that.

Hope this helps.

Before you get the screen telling you to press F1 or F2, the system should spit out an error. What is the exact error?

Hardware Error? That means something is physically wrong with the PC. Take it to Best Buy or CompUSA and have them take a look. They'll charge out the wazoo though.
