It has mine just a little bit .
what i have noticed from reading random response's is that there's a large % of the population who feel that they know it all
this maybe because of the large media outlet that we have now.
But it seems to me that we as Americans are over confident
in our intellect. For instance yahoo answers is not a good place to judge or compare intellegence qoution ,case in point very rarely will you find a question posted when responders don't reply "when disagreeing" without useing the term moron or idiot .
fact of the matter is you dont know who your responding to just by using a screen name or profile is too in accurate .In some case's you maybe talking to a 15 year old you maybe 40 there's a big expierience gap there. That is the only consistant thing ive come across on answers other than "Edna Bambrick" is the need to feel surperior is this an American trait ?Were katching a typo sends you to the head of the class .Thats more of a self esteem issue .

Has it influenced my view of society? No. I have always enjoyed sitting back and smiling at people. People watching/observing is one of my favorite pastimes. This has merely given me a little more insight into how people actually think.

Not at all. I've been reading for years that the educational system is in a crisis and that today's students are struggling with the most rudimentary skills. The poor spelling and grammar found on Answers seem to reinforce this.

As for people having the need to be right, I see that every day in my life. Many are argumentative simply for the sake of an argument. Others are dead set on their ideas and can't be shaken from them. Those ideas, no matter how absurd they may sound to the larger world, form a part of their identity. You may as well ask them to relinquish a limb.

I like visiting the Answers community, and will continue to do so. I take almost everything I see here with a grain of salt. I've had some good laughs and I am occasionally humbled by the heart rending honesty in some of the answers.

It takes all kinds to make up the world, and this community gives me the opportunity to brush shoulders with a variety of them. i give a hearty thanks to Yahoo! and to all the people who contribute to this forum.

Yes, it's influenced my view. It seems anyone under the age of 25 (and even then it's iffy) can't grasp our language enough to even spell out simple words. (ie. idk= I don't know...ur instead of your) And don't get me started on the punctuation.

People are not only undereducated but they're just plain rude for no real reason and arrogance is not in short supply. Both of which, can probably be attributed to the lack of decent education in this country. Kids spend more time on Yahoo answers or My Space than they do working on things that will better them. Superiority is NOT a problem when it comes to America, because we have sunk so low in just about every aspect (education, technology, health...etc) that we have become inferior to most other first world (and some second world) countries. Sad...

But there are also thoughtful and helpful people on here, so it restores some faith in our humanity.

It's definitely influenced mine. Whatever your opinion and whether you are 15 or 40 or 90, have some pride in what you write. My husband is a very intelligent man who happens to have atrocious spelling, but he has the brains to use spell check! The fact is that we ARE forming opinions about one another based on written posts, and poor spelling and grammar just don't conjure up Albert Einstein. It's distressing and worrisome to see the language so butchered. I'm not talking about "katching" (ha ha) one typo. It's the posts you can barely read! Rather than thinking we (Americans) are superior, I'm afraid we don't give one, umm, hoot (No, I'm not the 90 year old.) about educating/bettering ourselves. Thanks for giving me the space to rant!

Not really. Society's still a bunch of wackos. Good point, though. Perhaps we Americans are over-confidant about what we know. Turn off the TV, man!
