I just purchased a "Rossy Tarantula" from the pet store but I am sure it is a rose haired. I also need to know how to tell the sexes.

Sexing in tarantulas is most easily done using the shed and a microscope. There are even some places which sell tarantulas that will let you ship them the molt and tell you the sex. There are obvious signs if it is a male and already matured, however, as it will have "hooks" on the underside of its front legs for mating. A really good place to go and get some info is www.atshq.org which is the American Tarantula Society. They have a lot of good information. And a the must have book for all tarantula keepers is "The Tarantula Keepers Guide" by Stanley Schultz. It has great information on everything from general care to sexing and breeding. The best way to tell the sex of your tarantula is by the mult. If you get a mult in tact from a large enough tarantula it is really easy to tell. The ATS has a really great diagram to help you. The book is also really really good place to get some great pics to help you identify the parts you need to know. Good luck and Congrats on your new Rosey!
