Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot, the Shanghai Daily newspaper reported. Led by the county police chief, killing teams entered villages at night, creating noise to get dogs barking, then beat the animals to death, the reports said.

I just read that story on CNN and I was horrified to tears. I would have killed the person who would try to kill my dog. All because 3 people died of rabies. Dogs aren't the only animal that carries rabies! How about a little prevention called a rabies shot?!?!

I am a dog lover so this is alarming. If they really have an overflow problem of animals I think euthanasia should be the answer at least that is humane

they where killed for rabies, and what about the 1000ends of inocent people in iraq or libanon that are being killed by so called american smart bombs, must be an other way, right,
i think there are bigger problems then some dogs being kiled that where desend to end up in a cooking pot anyway

I haven't heard of this, but I did know that there are many areas of China that stray animals are captured and killed just due to the sheer volume of strays.

Yep, for something like 30 bucks a piece, i dont know how those people sleep at night, i cried when i read that yesterday.

I think the method sounds cruel, but dogs (or rather, irresponsible dog owners) annoy me intensely, so I'm not so upset about it in principle.
