I am very disturbed by what is going on. If I was Lebonese, I would be fighting too. I love america, and right or wrong, I will defend her borders. I can't blame Isreal either, the whole thing is really F'd up. I beleive that these things were set into place by a higher power anyway, does that me we are obligated to step in?? Are we apart of a the overall solution or are we the problem...? The US has a vested interest in this region and we need to protect those who can't protect themselves. How can we let Isreal destroy a soveriegn nation just because of terrorism. That is not right either? Who's got the answer for this one??

WE, the United States, is the problem. I won't write a novel, but here are a few pointers:

***Sometime in the 1940's the Jewish people wanted a home land of their own. The US, France, Britain got together and tried to make Africa their home. Africa said hell no, we have enough going on here. They tried Germany to no avail. So, they said haye, Palestine seems like a good place. A peace accord was signed and viola! Israel was created.

***This PISSED off the palestenians like you can not imagine. They fought, tooth and nail, but in the end, we, the US had given Israel the secret of nuclear power and weaponry, supplied fighter jets, combat gear, you name it, we gave it. There was also a law passed during that time that the Palestenian could NOT bear arms, only Israel.

***It left the Palestenians in a really unique situation. Since all cargo ships are searched by the Israeli's, they couldn't ship in arms to fight. Tensions have grown over the years, people get tired of seeing death and mayhem so the Palestenians started blowing THEMSELVES up, hoping that would get the point across.

****And this is the biggest secret yet. Did you know that oil was found off the coast of the gaza strip. Did you also know that the earth's natural resources are VERY low. Oil, Gas, Clean and purified water, coal. Being a highly industrialized nation, what does the US need more than any other country? Oil

****It was thought that by giving Israel irrevocable power both militarily and politically, it would keep the middle east (in general) at bay, quiet, satisfied. But the middle eastern people are very passionate about what is theirs and they will never surrender without a fight.

****The powers that be here in the US would really like for Israel to win the battle of the middle east so they can back israel and use it as a base of operations to monitor oil imports and exports, productions, you name it. But it's not working out the way they (The US) thought.

****So now it's a catch 22 situation. Israel is soooooooooo close to gaining control of not only Palestine but now Lebanon (2 countries that refuse to bargain) that if we step in they might be able to regroup and give Israel a run for the money. Also, look at the proximity it is to Iran (Who basically gave us the finger about scaling back nuclear production), Syria (which believe it or not is fairly modernized and has an itchy trigger finger). With Iraq and Afghanistan conquered we almost (operative word here, Almost) have control of the entire middle east.

Does it all make sense now?

My personal opinion is that this is NOT EVER going to be solved by secular means, reasoning or logic. The foundation for the conflict in the Middle East itself is not founded in anything secular (outside of the establishment of the State itself). The bottom line is that Israel and Palestinians believe that area is ordained to them by God/Allah. There is nothing logical or reasonable with that argument; it's based on faith.

Knowing this, how can a rational person have expectations of the most irrational set of beliefs? How can you go into Israel and say 'can we all just get along'? they will look you in the eye and say 'this is the land of the Jews. We will fight'.

IMHO, EVERY country should step out of this conflict. And the two countries need to figure it out for themselvest.

It is not the Lebanese people that Israel is fighting. It is a terrorist organization who has been based in Lebanon for many years. The Lebanese government is making strides toward democracy but is not strong enough politically yet to be able to disarm Hezbollah. So it is better that Israel do what needs to be done and then allow the Lebanese people to hopefully live in peace.

Bottom line is if we don't get involved at all, the Arab countries will call us complicit due to our inaction.... and if we get involved the Arab countries will call us Infidel Occupiers who should be considered the enemy, thus justifying more terrorism on our troops.
