To remove these errors, open your windows command shell, Start- > Run -> cmd

go to the C: drive root

type format C:

and then hit the Y key and return

STOP!

What program told you that you had 4000 registry errors? Something tells me that you had a popup ad from the Internet telling you that. Otherwise, you'd be given the opportunity with a commerical program already installed on your machine to repair the errors.

Verify the problem first before you download and repair. And if you are going to get a program, shell out the money and purchase a reputable program from a store. You're taking your chances with some of the software offerings on the Internet. Always do your research first.

I recommend you to use a commercial tool... at least the demo. Solve the 4000 errors first.
This is pretty good: TuneUp Utilities at www.tune-up.com

The demo version runs for 30 days (more than enough for a system repair) so solve a problem at time. You can always crack the program lol

Don't format your hard drive.

Backup your registry: File => Export => Save as....

Check out advanced system optimizer. I've used it before to fix registry problems. The first 30 days are free, enough time for you to take care of your problems.

I agree a commercial tool like Registry Mechanic or Registry Medic is a good idea; if you want a free tool try Eusing Free Registry Cleaner
