My friend was a cutter when she was depressed/suicidal a little less than a year ago. I noticed that her cuts were getting deeper and longer. They had started out as little scratches and I was thinking how i could help her. So I got a list of hotlines together. Printed it out. Bought her a book on suicide and how to get over it..how to get help. how to survive. I made a list of 100 reasons she should live. I bought a package of assorted band-aids and some antioboitic ointment with a card that said.."When you are ready to talk, I am here for you. I will always be here for you". I drove over to her house and put it on her doorstep. I rang the doorbell and waited for her to come outside. (she was home alone). And when she looked through this "little basket of love" as she put it and read the list of 100 reasons she cried harder than I had ever seen her cry before. She never cut herself again. Her scars are fading both physically and emotionally. She told me a few weeks back that I saved her life. It was the kindest thing I had ever done for a friend.

Friends with benefits! No, but seriously, telling her that she was not over this guy. She kept saying she was, but when she started renting out books about how guys are worthless etc etc. at the local library, we (My wife and I) have had to tell her repeatedly. Makes me sick how annoying she is about her ex. It's been like a year. GET OVER IT! Sorry, but sometimes brutal honesty is key.
