It really depends on what the intended usage is. If you need to connect to Windows network resources (often and for long periods) you will have a much easier time with a Windows based machine.

Having said that, I do know that if you plan on using the laptop for high end graphic design, or have need for software like garageband, then I would go with the Apple notebook.

I haven't really used a Sony Vaio... but I know it uses WIndows, which just a bad operating system. Apples are the way to go for a great operation system and great computers.

Anyone can get a lemon who's hardware keeps breaking. So I would leave it up to the software and there is NO comparison: OS X(MAC)
