Interested in the Muslim point of view. What is the actual purpose to terrorism? What is to be gained?

Question

Muslims are people just like everyone else. I imagine parents would like to see their children grow, marry, have children, just as the rest of us do. So what is the motivation of their fight? What do they hope to accomplish? Do they wish to convert as many to their religion and kill off the rest? Do they fear that Christians and Jews want to do the same to them, so for them this is a defense? I guess what I am really asking is "Would there be anything for them to receive or any arrangement that would encourage them to lay down their arms and live with the rest of the world in peace?"

Please, serious answers only, and no "Muslim-hatred". I work for a large company where Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Jews all work in peace. I know not all Muslims are evil and I want to learn why this can't work in the rest of the world.

Too much hatred thus far. I am not inferring any 'high ground' and if you read my statement, I clearly state not all Muslims are evil (and this is just as is with any other religion). I'm wanting to learn specific objectives. A Palestinian state in the Gaza strip, for example. I don't care which side lays down it's arms first. Just, what will it take, without that nonsense about war for oil and other rhetoric. There was war in the middle-east long before oil had a purpose.

I don't think Muslims hate Jews or Christian as a rule (like being in the KKK mean you hate everyone whose not white), and they do live in harmony in the Mideast but the whole notion of an Israeli state has started a plethora of chaos.

You cannot tie terror to Moslems only. Remember that the state of Israel was built by the terror organizations like Haganah and the Irgun and others (look for Jewish Terror on the internet). Nelson Mandela was considered a terrorist, the American resistance against the British, The French against the Germans, The Congolese against the Belgiums, etc. The list is long. They were all considered terrorists. Can you consider all the Christians terrorists because of Hitler or all the Jews because of Sharon? Equally not all the Moslems are terrorists because of Bin laden. You must differentiate between freedom fighters and terrorists. The Palestinians and the Lebanese are fighting against the Israeli occupation.. Who persecuted the Jews in Europe? Who made wwi and wwii? Who massacred the Moslems and Jews in Jerusalem during the Crusades? Who killed and enslaved Millions of Africans in America? All these were not Moslems. Resistance against oppression is legitimate but today the Israeli propaganda machine succeeded in connecting Islamic resistance to terror and Bush has called them terrorists. That is dead wrong.

People come to my country , take over my country, kill my people in my country , tell my people to move out of my country
set up new laws for my country, do all of this with out asking me .
If you are poor and this happens to you and you home , what would you do ? What you call Terrorism has happen in every country , it happened in the U.S.A. in the war of Independence,

Why can't you (Christians and Jews ) lay down your arms first and live in peace with me ? This question is very insulting why do you feel you have the higher ground ??? They just want the same thing you want ,Peace , but not to be a Slave , doing what you tell them to do !!!

Purpose is to settle their country problems by their own government, and not the USA. But , if you inter fer they will defend their country like the Americans do.
For instance you want oil pay for it, don't go to war tearing up their country, and killing their civilians on lies, and when they react you call them terrorists when really our leader is the terrorist the United States President.

when u can not win the war in real fight because u don't have enough weapons or people to do the fighting and no matter how hard u want to do it u just can't win, but still u don't want no countries to rule yr country or force u to except things that u don't want, what else can u do?
