i dont think people should get offended at all. i mean, if they are strong about their beliefs, they should be strong about answering questions concerning it.
if they do get offended, maybe they doubt someting in it.

Probably because religion is under attack these days and people feel threatened. The government kicks God out of school- as if they could and people feel hopeless. Therefore their sensitivity is heightened when the constant barrage of anti religious atheists win most of the court battles. Freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion.
I'm not offended though, I'll stand up for Jesus to the end. And by saying that, I probably offended someone somewhere... oh well.

Every one in this world thinks him/her self to be the best and perfect
Every individual has their own thinking, beliefs, religion and faith which they think to be the best. For example, if 10 people are told to write a program in the computer, each one of them will use different kind of logic. This indicates that every body thinks differently. That is why we humans are on the top. Every body thinks, "I am the best".
And this is good. This symbolises humans as far more superior than other animals. This is also the same reason why we have achieved everything in science, philosophy, art etc. etc.

People don't get offended when you ask them about their religion or belief, they get offended when you CRITICIZE and CHALLENGE their religion or belief.
One's spirituality is a deeply personal thing. It is their basic belief in "how things are". It is how they believe that they fit in to the natural order of things. I think that it is only natural that people get offended when that is challenged or criticized. If you criticize that you are criticizing everything that they believe in and everything that they are and how the world works. That can be scary to some and it can get a volatile reaction.

Apparently you are asking them the wrong way. I've never had anyone get offended by me asking questions about their beliefs. I also do not get offended when asked about mine. Perhaps you have a tone in your voice that shows skepticism or patronizing.

either it's because they're afraid of what people may say negatively about their religion or it's because they just don't know how to get along with others with different religion beliefs. I mean, it's kind of like the same thing as people believing in ghosts/spirits that may live among us and others believing that people are just hallucinating.

Offended? Not really, I think according to where and when you ask this question. I am in HK, not many people will concern your religion because HK people has freedom to choose what they trust and seldom offense the others. That's HK.
Drink more tea that help us to claim down and think more clearly about this subject.

Well a good point Dude...
Its all about faith, people follow it and respect it. You have freedom to embrace any religion, and all it need is to learn history done by great scholars. So why to abuse it, try not to be insensitive to others feeling.
It takes time to make a friend and trust him and you're talking abt religion, connected with believe, love, faith, family, society etc

A person's spirituality or religious beliefs can be personal thoughts and subjects they wish not to talk about with any person. My husband and I are Catholic and he feels our faith is a very personal thing and doesn't wish to discuss certain things pertaining to our faith beliefs. A wise women once told me, don't discuss religion or politics. You will not change someone's views and they will not be able to sway you to their's for both subjects are personal.
