i have a set of Altec Lansing Series100 speakers. They're small, and they look pretty sweet. they're pretty cheap too.

It depends on what you like and can afford.

Once you learn what the numbers mean, you can compare speakers by the numbers on the box at the store along with the price. You can get a nice set of speakers (2.1) for under $80. That would be 2 small speakers and a subwoofer.

generally, for laptop speakers, you would want something that is usb powered. sure they don't have the boom of the true 2.1 or higher systems but you don't have to go look for a wall plug whereever u go.

Altec Lansing, don't know the cost but check it out. You can also plug it into your Ipod, PSP and Mp3 ect.

Seriously, look into Altec/Lansing or Infinity or Dell. Look on ebay for inexpensive quality speakers.

check out walmart,,they have 3 - 5 piece speaker systems,med - high power for under 100.00
