Atari used a system that was similar to, but not directly compatible with, SCSI. IDE drives will not work! There was an adaptor that enabled SCSI drives to be used but as mentioned earlier, the kit was very expensive for a small hard drive set up. The Atari was/is a great little computer. I used it for quite complex data bases with no problems. I suggest you search for Atari web sites through Yahoo or Google. There are a number of very good sites with enthusiasts only to willing to help you out. You can also emulate the Atari on a PC (probably MAC also) and run most games and applications at very fast speeds compared with the Atari proper.

The Atari ST didn't have a Hard Drive as standard, just the floppy drive.
You could buy external hard drives but 20Mb ones when the ST was in circulation where about £200 and very rare. As a result I doubt you could find one now and if you did I would doubt it would work.

depends what interface it needs - i know that an Amiga 1200 used to use a 2.5 inch drive with an IDE interface, if you wanted to fit it internally. Apparently cheaper 3.5 inch (which was the standard for PC's back then) wouldn't fit in the drive bay, so the smaller 2.5" ones, intended for laptops were used instead.
I'd guess that as the AtariST is from the same era, it'll be the same.

they dont have any hard drives by them selves, but you could buy the computer and just take out the hard drive.
