There is no need to be so fearful of mono. It is true that the virus that causes mono, The Epstein-Barr Virus, does remain in your body for life. However, the mononucleosis is not contagious after your fever has been gone for a few days. It is more likely that if your friends are getting sick that they are passing around a much more common virus, such as a cold, instead of mono. Mono has a long incubation period, usually between 4-6 weeks, so people exposed to mono will not develop it immediately. Mono can have complications, but if you rest, drink plenty of fluids, take pain relief such as Tylenol, and gargle with salt water for the sore throat a person with mono generally feels better within a month. You can not be responsible for anyone but yourself. Your friends must make their own decisions. If they want to drink out of the same glass as a person who has had mono, they will have to suffer any possible consequences. It is unlikely that any of them will get sick, but it is possible. Relax - everything will be OK.

Lyme ailment for one because the indicators you defined is also attributed to Lyme. do not mess with that ailment, its terrible, get dealt with early.
