I'm at my uncle's house now, and the speakers on his computer won't work. He doesn't care, but for whatever reason, I do. I've tried a few things, but I'm really at a loss on what to do. I suppose there's the possibility that they're just shot, but they're coming on and you get static from them, just nothing else. Even if the speakers were busted, you'd get a little sound.

you might not have the drivers for them. go to the manufacture's site of your sound card, and install the drivers (probably soundmax). if they dont have them there, they'll be at your computer maker's web site.

make sure the speakers are also plugged into the pink port, not the green or blue one.

it could be that the general volume on the computer is set to "mute" or just turned down really low. (to check this, go to the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, double click the little speaker in the tool tray on the right and check the settings there.) if you're getting static that means they're still working. also check cables. it could be that the speakers are plugged in to a power source but not hooked up to the computer.

You probably have cheap speakers. Try hitting them. That always worked for me.
