To each his own......I don't really have a problem with them unless they are just obviously gross (again, a matter of personal taste).
I don't have any tattoos....I have two ear piercings.
In regards to what I think about navel piercing.....I would like to make a comment, as stated by a former teacher. He said he would not allow his daughter to pierce her navel because if she ever gets pregnant, most of the time it will tear and not heal back properly. It makes sense, because 9 months of pregnancy could obviously keep a tear pulled apart and not let it heal back.
In regards to tattoos....same instructor, who had a couple tattoos, said he would never get one over his heart area.....for the fact that the coloring tends to interfere with x-rays. He said therefore it could be a health safety issue.
Perhaps something to think about.....

I have (currently) 8 tattoos and one piercing (excluding earrings, of which I have 8). I used to have 14 piercings (excluding ears), but they rejected or had to be removed while I was pregnant. All up, I had about 30 piercings done in a 12 month period.
Tattoos:
Celtic designs, on top of left and right arms
The four elements, and my star signs, on shoulder blade
A lizard with our initials and dates of birth, on my ribs
Cartoon people, on my hip
A butterfly and rose through a heart, on my butt
My daughter's name, across the base of my back
-- To be done: My other daughter's name, probably down my spine
Current Piercings:
Labret and 8 ear-rings
Past Piercings:
Both nipples
Three surface piercings in the shape of a cross, on my breast bone
Two surface piercings in the shape of the constallation "Southern Cross" on my waist
Surface piercing on lizard tattoo, to give the lizard 'eyes'
Surface piercing on cartoon people tattoo, to give them 'smiley faces'
Navel piercings
Surface piercing below the navel
Tongue piercing
Nose piecings
And one in the "nether regions"
-- In future, want to re-do some of these, and perhaps get my eye brow done.

A few tattoos on a man is sexy to me, especially if he has one on the neck. No tats for me, I do have nose piercing though and used to have a belly button and eyebra piercing.

I have pierced ears...only one on each ear, or else, it would hurt. Tattos hurt more than piercings and they have more chances of getting an infection. I don't think guys should have their ears pierced; it makes them look feminine.
