Wow! We will be doing the same thing soon and this is what we were planning on doing.
We're in AZ moving to either CO or PA. We will put our house for sale first. If it doesn't sell in a month, we will leave our things and get a furnished rental. In AZ, if moving to Phoenix, you should find a lot of those. If moving in Tucson, email me and I can let you know of some good furnished places.
Then, when our house sells, we'll hopefully buy a house right away. We would have 30 days each way to close and can work it out so that our sale and buy happen consectutively. Then we'd get the movers to move our stuff.
We looked into Pods. VERY expensive. It's cheaper to leave most of your things (except necessary items) and rent for a few months than to pay for the pod.
It will be pricey for a few months, but you have to be sure to price your house to sell. We will be moving with 2 infants, so it sounds like you will have an easier time than we do!!
Let me know how you end up doing it so we can get an idea of how to do it.

I'd really wait until you sell your CT house before you move. That way you avoid double payments, the risk of not selling... and also you can get a new place in AZ that matches the budget you have once you know how much you got for your CT house!

Don't worry about selling your house and then having to move, it's normal to negotiate, when you sell, that you have time to pack up and move out after it's sold.

Splitting up your family between CT and AZ will be not only expensive but stressful... been there, done that, believe me!!

And once you're ready to move, I very very strongly recommend getting a professional mover. Once again, way less stress -- plus, very important -- if they break or damage anything, they pay; if you do, you're out of luck. And in AZ, you won't have any friends or family or anyone to help you unpack & move in, what a nightmare!!

Have a pro pack you up, then drive with your family and enjoy the experience - it's not every day you get to see those parts of the country.

Sell your house first. Then have almost all of your stuff moved using a pod. That way they will store it in AZ until you find the home of your dreams Just keep what you will need to live with for a few months, clothes etc. You can always rent a couple of rooms for awhile while you look . Also you will be able to drive in a car instead of driving trucks with furniture. It is a pain. Take your time and see the country. Make it fun. You will love you for it.

it incredibly is a personal decision, and there is no precise answer. I guess you may locate an outstanding style of latest acquaintances in case you bypass for the time of the country to bypass to a diverse college. yet, you gained't want to go away the acquaintances that you've already got. for sure, you may nonetheless stay in contact by ability of e-mail or on the phone, despite the indisputable fact that it really is not the same. I surely have moved around the country a lot, and that i love going new places and assembly new human beings.
