If you have outlook express, click on the paper click on the header in the message, then double click on the attachment. In Yahoo Mail, the attachment is listed in Files at the bottom of the message, and you just click on it.
If the attachment is made in a program your computer doesn't have (Microsoft Works, for example) then you probably won't be able to read it. You'll have to reply to the sender and ask them to send it in a different format. Good luck!

What kind of a message, and what kind of an attachment? Generally you need the program that created the attachment in the first place to read the attachment. Photo editor for a JPG attachment, MS Word for a word document, that type of thing. Want to give more detail?

if you're using a mail client like Outlook or Outlook Express, and you can't open the attachment just by double clicking on it, you might need to adjust the security settings.
To do this go to Tools/Options/Security, and there should be an option to enable/disable the opening of attachments.

If the attachment is a link, right click on it and go to "save as" or "download" or something of that nature. If there is no link to your attachment, it probably means you didn't recieve it properly.

you should just be able to double click on it ...but this will only open if you have the original programme that it was made in on your computer
for instance if it is a power point file you need to have power point installed on your computer
