I use ARBONNE and they have an entire line called BefoRE Sun and they have a tan enhancer which is really good .... it moisturizes your skin giving it elements for anti aging also, and it makes your tan stay for a real long time.... they have a made in the shade tanner for rainny days and it also works good as well as the hair protectant.....always keep in mind SPF over 30 is full of chemicals and will cause irritation more than a sunburn. You see the reaction with chemicals and the sun ....The rays from the sun: UVA and UVB.... UVA is the one that destroys your elasticin and collagen (the same ones that when we grow older they start the diminish the production) and this is what makes the 90% of aging signs and the tanning slons have these rays. Also the UVB is the ray that burns you and contributes to skin cancer. this is why i use ARBONNE... i buy them on line at: http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ... under shop online !!!
If for some reasons you did not like it (which I doubt because they feel so smooth) you can return the product for a money back .

a natural tan? just drink your fluids, eat your greens and sit out in the sun with protection for 30 minutes a day.
the deep tan will come without the burn but if 30 min is too long shorten that time... a week isn't enough time for a natural tan.
you may want to fakey out your friends with those tan in a bottle deals.. but the more famous name brands that are a wee expensive are the best.
though i never cared for that look always turns orange after a period of time and when you do tan on top of that junk it's uneven and looks like you're a burn victim.
good luck.
brands to use? unfortunately trial and error on all that junk.
i find going natural with a good diet is the best way i'm so dark now people call me "latina" and i make sure i got me some sunscreen with me all the time and only do 30 min. and i got my water and well..... gatoraid with me so i don't get all weird out in the sun.
direct sunlight i find isn't so great maybe do some tanning with a bit of medium light under a shade like an umbrella or something is best..
i hope this helps... ?

LAY IN THE SUN, seriously it will get you a glow, use at least 30 spf, do not use tanning sunscreen because the tan goes away within a few monthes, just lay out in the sun with any 30 spf and relax for an hour, switch sides of your body every 15 minutes though that way you are not to get burned easily, also, between the hurs of 11:00 am and 2:00 pm are the best times to tan because the sun is closer to earth, hope I gelped, Brooke.

this is a trick i learned while on vacation in puerto rico.
you start with a high SPF. maybe SPF 30 for the first 2 days to condition your skin to the sun. then on the 3rd day you lower the SPF to 15 and continue until the last day. apply sunblock every couple of hours when you're not under direct sunlight and quite often if you are sitting by the pool or beach. keep the SPF 30 on you face to avoid wrinkles.
this will not only give you a great tan but it will also last for months. Do moisturize your skin daily once you get back to avoid peeling.
but no matter how great a tan looks it does damage your skin and you'll get wrinkled skin eventually... try the self tanners, they are safer.

A tanning bed is your answer for a "real" tan, but the safest route would be to use a self-tanner.
