I use any kind of vinegar mixed with warm water and also use this solution on windows.I also use this to clean my coffee maker and thermos bottles.Works very well.

why household solution? use pledge. or, to clean, use murphy's oil soap.
if you really, really don't want to just get a can of furniture polish, then mix like 2 parts olive oil to one part lemon juice.

My mom use to use vinegar mixed with ammonia and baking soda. She swore by it. I like to use Murphys Oil Soap.
