Moonballers, Counterpunchers, whatever you want to call them, what do you do to neutralize that high heavy topspin?

Haha, it does belong. Look in the details, I'm referring to a specific type of tennis players. Ones that like lobbing from the baseline, and generally being completely passive.

pushers are the hardest of all competitors, but the key to beat them in is that pushers play to beat you mentally. if you play to win, not just win the game but thinking of it as, every time the ball comes to you, you will get a technique for the pushers not to have time to think about. be very patient with pushers, and remember, they are just lobbing to wait for you to make the first mistake. focus hard and make them run, tennis is all in the brain, and how you think you can overcome your opponent. if you notice, pushers never hit the ball to win a point, but to wait for you to make a mistake, don't fall into their trap and play to win, not to keep the ball in play! good luck, and after a while you will get the hang of pushers, if you don't let them push you!!!!!!!!!!!
AND!!
do NOT RETURN EVERY LOB WITH A LOB!!!! remember, they are experts at lobbing!! lobbing would only make you a pusher too, making the point longer and more boring, HIT TO WIN!!! always show patience, if you show them how angry they are, it will only show them how you are not so confident at winning the match and how they actually have a chance!

I can't believe how many idiots answered this without realizing it was in tennis.

Anyway, pushers are the most difficult players because they beat you mentally. It's easy to dismiss a winner hit down the line at a million MPH, but difficult to get over missing an easy lob.

These options work for me

1. Practice your overhead so that anytime their lob isn't deep enough you're going to slam it down so that it bounces over the fence.

2. If they hit a deep lob let it bounce, its almost like hitting a serve only you have the whole court.

3. Use their weapon against them, return every lob with a lob.

4. Be patient, be patient, be patient.

5. Try an occasional drop shot, if they're really hitting a lot of topspin they generally love to stay on the baseline a drop shot or even a short ball will be hit long quite frequently.

6. In between games, when changing courts kick him in the groin and say "play like a man"

take the net, and/or force THEM to the net. that style is only effective up to a certain level, generally the level where the opposing player has good volleys and an overhead. but at a lower level, if you're not a good volleyer, it's going to be a very rare pusher that is comfortable at the net. and they are generally best moving side-to-side but their front to back movement may be susceptible to attack.

the higher level "pushers", a michael chang type for instance, are not really pushers because they do have weapons to finish a point. at the lower levels the pusher is simply relying on your lack of patience and is waiting for you to make a mistake. don't get pulled into playing THEIR game!

I love your question. It's unfortunate that we'll run into those people. All you can do is to be patient and wait for the moment. You have to be mentally stable and expect a long match.

A pusher is also a cheater, they push because they want to win. Just stay calm and enjoy the time. Pretend you'll have a trip to Paris after the match...

I agree with the previous answerer that this woman probably wants your attention. After all, many of us know that the way to a person's heart is through his stomach. Perhaps all she needs is a little reassurance that you really appreciate her kindness, but she doesn't need to cook to keep you around.

I know what you mean dude, they are the worst to play against. Most importantly, be patient. Mix your spins. Definitely hit flat shots to cut off their angles, and wait for them to hit a shot thats short or high and short, and hit a slam or a well angled drop shot.

Stand strong, the first time you do this , people won't try to use you so much, eventually will move on to someone else
