If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Try a plain old boring face wash, followed by Stridex Power Pads, then Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Lotion. Try this first just at night, increase to twice a day if you need it. Those products contain all the ingredients you need to fight acne (benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid) in formulations that WORK, good prices, and they don't contain any irritants (alcohol, menthol, etc) that'll only aggravate it.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash (twice daily)*prevents*
Oxy acne cream *cures what you've already got*
If that don't work try ProActiv ++ It's expensive, but really works!
If you are already using products and they are making it worse check the lable and see if there is anything in it that you are allergic too... thats what happened to me!
Hope that helps, Good Luck!

Pro Active is by far the best ... I've used it for 4 years now and am very acne free. It even took care of the cystic acne that scars!

anything with benzol peroxide. there is a type of clean and clear that has it in it.. just check the label. there is also stuff made by clean and clear called persigel that has benzol in it. just don't over use it. it is the only thing that keeps my skin clear. the acyclic acid or whatever in most products irritates my skin more. make sure you moisturize as well. i use oil of olay for sensitive skin, but any non-comedeginic (sorry, don't know how to spell it off the top of my head) is good. your doctor can also prescribe benzoclin gel. by the way, the benzol is the same thing that is in pro-active, but there is more of it in the clean and clear.

this may sound stupid. but try good old fashion soap on your face. and a good brand like clinique for lotion and a mask(2 days a week) and maybe a spot treatment, also clinique. i have struggled and used pills, prescribed acne treaments and such, and just recently left it up to a bar of soap... and let me tell you the difference it made..
