Use a primer called B.I.N. It has shellac in it and sticks to every surface. Then you can use whatever paint you like over it. (It even works on glass!)

Available at home hardware stores,

You can, but if its ceramic tile, it probably wont last long as paint tends to wear out when you walk on it...

You first have to take the "glaze off" the creamic...Whether by acid wash, or scuffing it all down with sand paper, (yea each tile has to be done if its tile).

Then, if its tile you walk on, I would put an enamel paint, (like floor paint, it comes in red or grey), so that it will wear a bit longer then other paints...

Now, if its someting that is not tile, then acid wash it, (muratic acid or something similar), and wear rubber gloves and goggles for that! and, If you have it a rubber apron!! Old clothes too!

Then, paint til your hearts content... (Oh, you may want to even spray some clear coat on it afterwards, so that it will stick and not peel off, incase you dont get all the ceramic glaze off it...

I wish you well..

As a landlord, I have yet to see it done sucessfully! I have seen a multitude of attempts and I am getting better at removing the botched projects! The grout is the toughest part to get the paint out of. It peels off the ceramic tile!

A friend of my husband does ceramic painting. You need to get access to a small kiln, though. First you paint your design on the ceramic, then fire it in the kiln. I don't know the exact temperature, but I'm sure you can find it pretty easily. The way to measure the temperature in the kiln is by using small cones which melt slightly as they heat up. When the tip of the cone leans, you know which temperature you've reached.

Yes you can. There are a number of tile paints but they require the use of a special primer to be put on first or they will come off very quickly.

Why would you want to? Why not buy a book from the Home Depot (or take one of their free classes) and replace the old ceramic with something more modern looking!?

Kindled? You recommend fired? probable, because of fact which you employ the observe bisque, meaning the piece has been fired as antagonistic to unfired greenware that's brittle and honestly broken. i like to apply acrylic paint on my artwork because of fact i can administration precisely what colorations i gets. i can coat the piece with acrylic varnish to realize a glaze seem and it does not get fired. With glazing/firing you may under no circumstances be suitable in what shade you will get. some levels in kiln temperature could make a brilliant distinction interior the ideal shade. you will choose get entry to to a kiln on your bisque firing. there is probable a clay co-op on your city or an area college the place you may take instructions. you will choose a variety of acrylic paint: Liquitex™ Golden™ M.Graham™ Holbein™ and so on, and a handful of acrylic brushes. have exciting!
