ok in south carolina they set a bill which has been passed and will be final on the 21st of august that minors under 18 cannot be in the possestion of tobacco products before u couldnt buy them but could be in possestion now u cant at all and if u do get caught u will have to pay a fine of 25 dollars do comunity service or they can put a hold on ur license . its stupid what makes u think theyll stop just like weed is illegal right ? but why does half the world still smoke it this is another law that will need to be abolished because adolesants dont care if there gonna smoke let them so sum1 tell me y its so much of a problem i know its bad for ur health but this will just make teens rebel and do it more it doesnt make sence

Maybe if kids don't have tobacco products then they'll learn to write English. As the logic follows, you should stop using tobacco so you can actually form a coherent sentence.

You do have a point. Tell a teen not to do something and some will break their necks to do it anyway. The government really thinks we don't know what is bad for us. I smoke and I knew from the very first moment of the very first draw off a cigarette and I nearly hacked up both my lungs that this couldn't be good for me or even harmless. But states are cracking down on underage vices like tobacco due to the federal government programs that fund certain state programs. Don't crack down and Uncle Sam won't give you, your state subsidies.
And let me tell you, the police can't be everywhere to bust all these kids doing what is part of coming of age. Some will get busted for it, while others simply won't. At best it will put the monkey right back on the parents' back. The kids who want to smoke will steal the parents' cigarettes, the parents' will eventually catch on and take it from there. A friend of mine had to take her son to the Emergency room since her son had no money for cigarettes and was constantly 'bumming' one off of someone. So, someone laced a cigarette and gave it to her kid and it nearly killed him. Since he was going to smoke, the mother began buying him the cigarettes so she knew what he was getting.

Your statement doesn't make sense. What was the point? You have to be 18 to legally smoke, so why would someone under the age of 18 need to carry around cigarettes? Teens will still carry them around like others still smoke weed. But now theres consequences to it just like if you smoke weed. If they 'rebel' about it, go for it. You have way too much free time on your hands and a lot of growing up to do if you do so.

Yes and this I truly don't understand (mind you, I'm an adult - I don't want my kids to smoke either BUT).....my son will be an adult VERY SOON (well, adult enough to JOIN THE ARMY) but still a child (18) in the eyes of the government. So, yes, the government can kill them but they can't make a choice to smoke. Don't get me wrong - smoking is bad (I smoke - I'm bad) --- BUT the "reality" is only the government can decide anything for everyone anymore. Freedom is disappearing slowly but surely.

if you're not allowed to buy them, it makes sense that you shouldn't be allowed to have them either. if you're under 18 and you gotta have your tobacco, what's the solution? don't get caught. i'm sure SC isn't the only place with a law like that
