there are a LOT of sites about this question- it is the one FACT you cannot say is some poopoo story. Norad is under strict command to intercept ANY errant aircraft IMMEDIATELY- these jets went off course some 300 miles, and nothing...whats up with that???? That is more than just "dropping the ball" isn't it?

don't listen to these folks below.. it's an excellent question and is well documented.. In fact any deviation from flight course is an immediate red flag.. and requires immediate action. It happens all the time. There was more than enough time to intercept those planes before they reached New York airspace. I have researched this over the years and have spoken personally to two different commercial air pilots and they are as skeptical about the official story as anyone because of this obvious breach. when the first plain arrived at it's "final" destination and then the second plane did more or less the same thing .. turned off it's radar beacon, stopped answering FAA calls.. every person in the country watching the radar knew what was at risk and yet 18 minutes went by and you are right .. nothing. Check the site that I linked it has some very interesting info... to me this was a defining moment in our history... the guy that called you stupid and then told you to "think for yourself" should hear those same words.

Planes are tracked by air traffic control personnel of the Federal Aviation Administration - not NORAD. The fact that these planes were off course were being tracked by the FAA - but there was no suspicious activity noted until the first plane hit the World Trade Center.

Military planes had been scrambled - but an immediate decision to shoot down a passenger plane over a major populated city does not come easy. Planes were scrambled and probably would have shot the plane that was headed for the White House or Capital Building, but was crashed in Pennsylvania because of the actions of the passengers. Civilian planes fly over New York daily. There's nothing alarming about that. And if you look at the flight plan, they weren't 300 miles outside normal commercial air traffic routes.

And while NORAD may now be under such orders, prior to 9/11 nobody contemplated that kind of attack.

My brother is a pilot and he talked about the company policy changes that went into effect post-9/11. Before then, in a hostage situation, pilots were instructed not to antagonize the terrorists and to keep the situation calm while negotiations took place. After 9/11, their policy is now to put the plane on the ground, by any means necessary.

it extremely is a sort of inexpensive airplanes that would not have the little t.v. demonstrate on the returned of the guy in front of you's chair? i've got been on a pair of those. although they weren't any extra than 6 hours so all i did grow to be stare out the window and nod off. yet you should attempt taking a competent e book or an ipod. in case you have a movie telephone that should be super as lengthy as you set it into flight mode so it would not intervene with any navigation alerts. purchase a nintendo D.S. or yet another sort of handheld game. Get a bop it with headphones so it would not annoy persons, they are extraordinarily addictive. basically take as many distinctive varieties of entertainment as you may so it would not get tedious. submit to in ideas you wont be conscious for the finished 17 hours. Have a effective flight! :-)

If you knew how NORAD works it is designed to stop Foreign aircraft from entering US air space. It was never designed to stop an attack from WITHIN the US. Proceedures weren't in place to handle that situation.

Our government had information in advance and knew sometime was going to go down, they figured they could handle the situation with resources at hand..
