Even if they know that we are not going to obey their advice, they give it, you know why,....

so that later we should not blame them by saying that they didn't help us anyway, and now my dear friend when they give advice it is upto us whether to take it or not, so we are the only ones who will be responsible for the results, and we cannot blame them for anything when they have given us the advice.

And moreover not all people, but many people give advice because they are experienced atleast a little in the particular field regarding which the advice is being given.

They know but they donot believe that :
advised will not follow their advice. If they are made to believe as such they WILL NOT.
Why they donot believe - it is because of various factors (1)relationship with you (2) their intention to help you (3) your credibility and their trust in you (4) habit of advising.

When a child brings its fingers near burning candle the mother or any elder sitting near it, forbids child. Child also think " some people give us advice, but they know we will not obey them, then why do they advice us???????????????????????" Is the child right??

Think it. If the adviser is sincere towards you, he deserves due weight-age to his words and courtesy. If he is habitual adviser, you may avoid.

BEST OF LUCK

Mostly for their satisfaction. So they can tell you 'I told you so!" when something we do gets screwed up.But most people( especially parents) tell you their opinion and advice becoz they want you to do the right thing for yourself and just want to point you in the right direction. They know you wont follow it, but atleast you have it in your head and you can use it at some other point in life.
I usually just nod my head and give a big smile and say ' let's see how things go and what I do at that point. Thanks for telling me this anyway.' when someone gives me advice that is absolutely not asked for.

I give advice in hopes that people will learn from what i have to say. But ultimately mistakes are ours to make, it's the best way to truly ever learn and understand.

OBEY? This is merely written chit-chat. No one is under any arrangement where obeying others is expected, arranged and most certainly there are no such rules. There is no obedience nor should there be.

question: was the advice ASKED FOR? advice which is unsolicited is usually unwarrented and unneccesary. Usually!

why advice - which IS asked for - goes unheeded is a mystery.
