What in the world is wrong with people?

I just got done answering a question about why a suicide should live (of course I encouraged the guy to live), but when I submitted my answer, I was apalled to see that about 2/3 of the people who answered it encouraged the guy to kill himself! Have we truly fallen so far as to have lost compassion for our fellow man, choosing instead to kick him when he's hurting the most? I just cannot believe it...

oh god...it truly takes a lot to make a person go over the edge like that...
i would know, i've tried commiting to that final option over 6 times before, and to have people push him down when he's already as low as he can get, when he is just reaching out for help, when he feels like there is no option, those people are just insensitive, SOBs. Suicide is no joke, a person is depressed, and he's truly hurting inside, and there are no words to describe the pain a person feels... and i would know...you feel like its the last option, you feel like there's no way out, and that things are never gonna get better. these people aren't helping, these people are the devil's advocate....and i'm trying to be nice when describing "these people". It makes me want to cry when i see the cruelty in others...

A lot of people are on this site pathetically trying to "lance" people to comment on their questions. A lot of questions are false and there's this sicko laughing at your sympathetic answer. Other times there's someone that's genuinely sick. This is obviously not the place someone should go for therapy as there's plenty abound of jerks on this site who just get a laugh from saying something abusive and stupid to their fellow users. It's just the way people are.

The internet helped spawn this kind of "impersonal" relationship between people, where it's more okay to tell someone off if it's by email, or its less disgusting to talk to a 12 year old girl in a sexually explicit way on Messenger if you're online than if you pulled her aside into an alley. It's just further desensitizing society.

Nothing we can do as people, but watch the degenerates. They'll probably end up hooked to an IV in a drug rehab program, or in jail, or dead anyhow. I really hope nobody SERIOUSLY suicidal wants to rely on the people on this site to answer their pleas for life, because with the 3 people that'll be genuine and intelligent will be the 7 that are about as smart as a horse's hind side.

People really do think a lot of the stuff posted on here is a joke so they treat it as thus instead of taking it seriously. It really is sick that we as a society have become so desensitized to things like that. Even further on the down side of the situation is that people tend to not really care so much for others. It's like they are just going about life in that "oh, well it's not me or anyone I really know so I don't care" kind of way. It's sad and It has me truly worried about what might just become of this country....

Well I hope you helped him out and that maybe he was joking. If he is really thinking about suicide then any negativity at all might just be what it takes to push him over the edge and people don't realize how sensitive of a situation that is and what his mind state is.

There's always the people that are on crack, the ignorant teenagers, the not-so-nice people. The world has gone so far down from that time where Adam and Eve ate the apple - I'm sure you've heard Bible stories of Adam, Eve, and Noah.

However.

People may be rude. They have NO right to hurt someone who is already hurting. That's just stupid.

Yes, unfortuantly alot of people have lost their compassion for the fellow man.. Most people only care about themselves and where they are gonna end up in life. I bet they dont even know their neighbors... We all need to take a step back and realize how we want and expect to be treated and I bet alot of people would change their attitudes..

The people at yahoo answers tend to do that my dear. I ask questions just to see what people think and I get rude comments. People have thought I was killing myself or was going to kill someone lol The people at yahoo answers either take questions too seriously or dont take them serious enough. A lot of people don't care they just want some easy points.

You have not experienced everything. Life is very bad for some people. In nature the runt's usually dievery young. In society they are nurtured and tortured. Those people encouraging the dude to kill himself are just wolves, in need of a kill.
We can hope spirituality, or religion, or whatever will reward the deer in death, and burn the wolves in hell, but it is very hard to enforce this in life (nature)

I think most people assume that someone that really was going to commit suicide wouldn't be hanging out on yahoo answers trying to get people's opinions on whether they should or not. Then you have to look at the number of people on here that are under the age of 13 seem to be incapable of uttering much other than "how do I get him/her to like me."
