In a spiritual sense yes when using the Bible there's similarities to the Matrix, I'll first list the similarities then explain in detail.
1. People are enslaved
2. People minds are being blinded by something more powerful and wicked and most don't know it or won't accept it.
3.People believe they live in the "real life" or the world they live in is here to stay
4. There's a final large war/battle

My Explanations:

1. People are enslaved:
The bible tells us that we are "enslaved" in sin and death from the disobedience of our first parents Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Here's some scriptural proof
-Romans 5:12,NW translation: "Through one man[Adam] sin entered into the world and death through sin and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.
-1 Cor 15:22: In Adam all are dying
-Rom 3:23,6:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... The wages sin pays is death.

2. People minds are blinded by something more powerful and wicked and most don't know it or don't accept it.
A.Satan, the Devil really rules the world we are live in
- I John 5:19 "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one"
-Rev 12:9 "So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him."
B. He blinds and fools people through (nationalism,false religions,materialism etc..)
[False religion]
-Matt 7:21: "Not everyone saying,'Lord,Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will."
-There's only "one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God..."(Eph 4:5,6)
-"..the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about Christ...might not shine through."

[Nationalism]
-The Bible likens the entire political entities of the world to a wild beast which is under the control of Satan the Devil(the dragon). It has great authority over the entire inhabited earth and forces many to "worship it"(Rev 13:1-8;16,17 also compare Daniel 7:3-8,17;which also likens political entities to beasts)

3.People believe they live in the "real life" or this world or system is here to stay
However the Bibles tells us the opposite that "the world is passing away and so is its desire" but there will come a "new" earth filled with righteous individuals free from sin and death ,suffering or wickedness under God's rulership( 1 john 2:17; Rev 21:1-4; Psalms 37:9-11,29; Dan 2:44)

4. There's a final battle- In the Bible it's called Harmagedon or Armageddon which is between God and the "kings" or human governments of the earth[ Rev 16:14,16.] This final battle is also called the great tribulation that will mean the eternal destruction of wicked people who failed to obey God and follow the pattern set by Jesus (2 Thess 1:6,9, Zeph 2:3, John 3:16 Ps 37:34, Matt 24;21)

I had a friend that seriously believed that he lived in the matrix. He did alot of meth and has been in the mental hospital for alot of stuff. Yea, he really did believe that we are in the matrix.
