I am on the pill, and i switched to tri-cyclen lo a couple months ago. Before that i was on triquilar. I started a new pack last week and now i am spotting??? I have ever spotted before.
Does anyone else take the pill 12 weeks straight and then one week off? My doctor told me i could do this to reduce the amount of times i have a period. At first i still decided to stop after 3 weeks to get my period, but this week, i started another pack right away.

Spotting can occure anytime you switch medications. Your body needs time to adjust to the new pill.
And you doctor is right, you can go as long as 12 weeks on the pill to avoid more frequent menstrual cycles, however, there is not a great deal of evidence from testing as to what this may do to your body down the road. I would proceed with caution.

Sometimes if you're a few days off on starting a new pack you'll spot. The reason why is because the hormones that are running your cycle are becoming weak in your system. So your body takes over trying to get back on it's own cycle. This can cause spotting and PMS like symptoms until you're back on your pills.
I had this happen when I took mine. It's no biggie unless you are having any type of pain or discomfort.

Go get a second opinion. This sounds like it could really mess up your hormones. There is controversy anyway about the pill and its effects on the body. Not saying I am against it. But I dn't like the sounds of this stuff.
I don't think it would be unusual for there to be some spotting with the change in pill typs as it might have some impact on your hormones temporarily. If it continues however, talk to a docotr again.

It's normal to spot a little bit while your body is adjusting to the new medicine. It's also normal to spot if you do not take your pill at the same time every day or skip days.

It is possible with the change of pills and hormones. It shouldn't last that long. If it does contact your doc and let him/her know.
Everyone responds differently to the drug. Just because one person doesn't does not mean that everyone won't.
