Youth and beauty are valued in our society, but not in every society. I have lived in parts of Africa where the beauty of youth comes second to the knowledge and experience of age.
In these villages the older residents are held in respect because of their life experiences. Perhaps because there is a lack of the books and education that we in the Western world take for granted, people take their advice from the people in their village with most life experience.
It s not until you become older (I am only 30 ) that you appreciate what it is to be young, and also when you realise that although you THOUGHT you knew your own mind and were mature that you actually weren't.
As for achieving being young or old, we achieve neither, they happen to us and all we can do from either, is learn.
Hope this helps, Take care, xxx

With the life expectancy of a healthy human being around the 80 mark, compared to the billions of years there has been earth and life, life is over within a second compared to that... You have to live life to the fullest, and consdering you are in education or work for the 1st 50 or so of them years life becomes even more shorter... being younger means that you've potentially got longer to live, but being older means you have more life experience such as wars and times when there were no computers etc, and younger generations are reliant on them to much... Hope this helps!!

As an older member of society. You must enjoy life to the full whatever your age or your circumstances. You must learn from every mistake and not make it again. When you are 15 30 looks very old. When you are 30 50 looks very old. The problem is you turn around and age has caught you up. There are good and bad at any age. Life is about experiences. Enjoy the good learn from the bad. Soon you will be old and looking back whatever age you are now.

Hey Vix, not all of us older people go senile! To me, at an older age, I like myself a whole lot better now than I did when I was younger. I am more sure of myself & hopefully a little wiser...if you quit learning, you quit growing. I would much rather be my age now (51) than go back to being younger. Only the body grows older, what & who you are on the inside never changes. In other words, alot of what you believe in now will not change, your personality will not change much. Age is just a number people.

Proverbs 31:30-Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
1 Peter 3:3-Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.
1 Peter 3:4-Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

It is an accompishment to getting older - especially with the crazy days we have about us now. I think the real issue is that younger folk tend to not think about the lease given to us on life and truly appreciate what they have until they have had a chance to experience life and death in a way only experience can give.

Because youth is primarilly healthier. It's why we gain wisdom as we age. Youth can run around and take the knocks but as our bodies fail us we rely on experience to stay out of trouble. It's not quite as much fun as flying by the seat of ones pants! (I'm generalising of course, there are some pretty plucky older folks around and alot of younger people too scared to experience real life).

But young people still have both experiences ahead of them - older people are looking at the slippery slope into senility.
