If someone were to become a lawyer based solely on the money regardless of the other factors like billable hours, etc... What would be the best field to specialize in?

it depends on the era. Traditionally, corporate law makes alot of money, but the hot areas now are Intellectual Property and Pension Benefit law. My buddy went into that and she is making a killing

Ambulance chaser, they get the biggest bang for the buck. But then you would have no respect for yourself or the ones you "help".

From Ambulance chasing you can then go into Politics where the real money is as a Democratic candidate.

A Republican lawyer is generally in criminal prosecution not a whole lot of pocket money to be made there.

Criminal Defense, if your are really good.

A good example is to look at Johnny Cochrane (he made millions by getting OJ free).
