If it made you feel good.. it wasn't selfless.

I was driving thru some farm country that I was familiar with one day when I saw a woman stranded on the side of the road with her two daughters. It was rather hot out and they looked terribly uncomfortable and thirsty. I always carry extra water with me because I have three young boys. I stopped and asked her if she was out of gas and if she would like some water. Unfortunately she was but I knew of a gas station about a mile or so up the road so I asked her if she had a gas can. She did, she gave it to me as well as $20 to run and get her some. It took a lot of faith for her to do this and I returned as promptly as I could so she would not be too concerned. I'm not sure if this is considered a selfless deed because one of my thoughts was that if it were me stranded I know I would appreciate all the help I could get.
The favor was returned a couple of years later when I took a trip to Baltimore with my boys. On the way home my fuel pump went. A mechanic happened by us and offered to help. He had the car towed and even drove us home. I live near the Poconos in Pennsylvania. I know this all sounds made up but it's not. When you help someone out it's bound to come back to you.

Jesus Christ! When he was on Earth he: turned water into wine, turned a few into many, made the blind to see,the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, the mute to talk, allowed a diciple to walk on water with him (though the disciple's faith faded and he fell in the water), cured a leper, and raised the dead. There many more miracles he did; but I cant think of them right now and this answer would be too long if I did mention them.
God (Jesus Christ) did those miracles for no monotary gain; the only thing you could say he asked for, was faith. Faith that he was God and faith that he could do the miracle the person or people were asking for.

Hebrews 11:6-But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
