I long for the days where I could drive down a road and not see a starbucks, walmart and/or subway every 3 miles. I live in the burbs... some bastardized compromise between city and small town.
I am tired of all the traffic... all the crime... all the rushing around ants...
I grew up in a small town, and could not wait to get out... now, as an adult ( well, somewhat of one anyhow ) I'd love to go back....
Even if you live in a small town, you are only a car ride or plane ride away from the city... if you need that big city fix.
I'm pretty much done with the burbs.... lol.

I like living in a small town within driving distance of a city. That way I can enjoy the craziness of the city for a time and then return to the simplicitiy of the small town life.

I agree . I really love to live in the small city. Because there is less traffic and not so crowded. Small city looks so peaceful for me. But I love to visit also the big city do the shopping, having fun with friends and stay for a couple of days but not to live in there.

I grew up in a small town within minute's drive of a big city, so I prefer that-
City smog and the million cars and all the noise, I like to visit big cities but I don't think I could live in one. It's nice to be able to drive to the big theatre center...
I like a quieter smaller town with minimal gangs and drugs,
less traffic problems. Housing is pricey unless you're in the complete boondocks, but I still prefer it. When I lived in a city I
chose the very edge of town, and it was still not to my liking.
I love my small town where I can walk to the store or burger place if I feel like it, instead of having to drive or catch the train if I want to go anywhere.

I prefer to live in a small town by a big city. I enjoy the peace and solitude of a small town, but I could do without the small town folk who cannot keep to their business. I don't care for the chaos that comes with a lot of larger cities, but I do enjoy the the city life on occassion. Concerts, sporting events, restaurants etc...

A small town that's 5-minute away from a very big city. I love big cities but I hate the traffic and pollution.

I would much prefer to live in a big city, or at least near one. Right now I live just outside a city so its easy enough for me to get there whenever i want but hopefully before christmas will be moving in there.
Any time i go somewhere in the country to a small village or whatever i enjoy it for a day or so being away but i get bored really easily. I know you're supposed to appreciate things like just being able to go for a walk in the fresh air, and it is good but not enough for me to want to live somewhere like that. I prefer being in a busy environment.

I, too, have lived in both and now live in the suburbs.
Small town: too many people can find out your business. Less traffic. Less pollution. Less to do. People may be more polite.
Big city: traffic/noise/crime. Variety of activities, places to go. Transit systems normally better than in smaller towns. More employment opportunities.

i live in a small town about 30 minutes from the big ol city of houston and i love it. in a small town, you dont have the crime and drugs and gangs and you can trust your neighbors, you can leave your front door open and cars unlocked you arent scared to stay at home alone or walk down the street at night and you can go to the city whenever you need a guchi handbag or prada shoes!
