I think the appropriate way is to wear your watch on the hand that you do not write with. Then, you can see your watch while you are writing or doing similar things with, in this case, your right hand.

a right handed person wears their watch on the left hand and vice versa. The reason is the dominant hand is the one that buckles, adjusts, winds the watch, so it should be on the opposite hand of the dominant one.

I just bought the most fantastic, clean line, silver watch with a religious cross on it. I always wear mine on my left hand, as I am right handed.

Doesn't the practise stem from when watches were clockwork and had to be wound. With the watch on the left wrist it was easier for a right handed person to turn the winder which is at the front. Even for a left handed person wearing on the right wrist it is difficult to wind from the rear of the watch

It has traditionally been the opposite hand of the one you write with, so if you're a righty, your left wrist. I think women are sometimes wearing them on their right wrist if they're particularly decorative and they consider them more a "bracelet" than a "watch."

I'm right handed and have always worn it on my left hand. I think it is like you said, to wear it on your non-dominate side. But i think this is only true because you are less likely to hit it off of things and scratch it up.

I think your right that most right handed people wear their watch on the left (less dominate) wrist as I do. But as I was reading your question my 13 yr. old son walked in the room; and i noticed he was wearing his watch on his right wrist (he is right handed). He couldn't give me a reason why he was wearing it on the right wrist. I'm sure my left handed daughter wears her's on her right wrist. My conclusion is that some kids just begin wearing it on the side they are most comfortable. Perhaps this is a sign that they will be a nonconformist.
