I think the first answer was correct £3.000 but ring the benefits agency it's a free number. You do not have to divulge your name. Just ask to be put through to the department that can give you information on job seekers allowance and housing benefits etc. They all come under the same roof these days.

You can claim JSA whatever amount of savings you have.

Income support based JSA allows you savings of £6000 after Whig your weekly benefit will be reduced by £1.00 for every £250.00 of savings that you have over this amount. So if you have savings of £8000.00 that is £2000.00 over the limit. your weekly benefit would be reduced by £8.00 ( 8 x £250.00 = £2000.00).

If you are in receipt of either JSA or ISJSA you will automatically qualify for housing benefit.

i'm on income support now and have been on job seekers, only £500 savings will effect your claim. not much and it's not enough 2 live on so i think they should higher the amount!

When my GF called up a few weeks back it was over £3000 affected Jobseekers and £8000 meant you couldn't claim anything I think
