Most people vote based on the issue nearest to there heart, IE Abortion, Gun control, ETC.,And its been my experience that most racist are passionate about there beliefs, and vote Republican because they share there same view.(although not as open)

When it comes to elections the Republicans used code words to influence elections. Or use ways to deny or prevent one from voting. Just look at Ohio in 2000/2004.

Dear loveben,
I am very curious as to what you believe is racism. Most Republicans are against Affirmative Action BECAUSE it's racism. Hiring a person based on their color is just as bad as NOT hiring someone based on their color.
Most Republicans are also against groups like ACLU who promote rights for some, but not others. I have voted Republican, and I believe in equality for ALL, regardless of race, sex, or religion.
While it is true that some racists vote Republican, I've known many racist Democrats as well. There is no distinction. Racism is racism, whether the person chooses to vote Democrat, Republican, Green Party, Libertarian, or Independent.
I believe you have asked a loaded question, and I also believe it doesn't contain more than a single grain of truth.

Regards,

I think it is because racists tend to be conservative in their views (not that all Republicans or conservatives are racists). But racists would be against social programs that would benefit minorities and a majority of them would also be against gay marriage I would assume. So that would make them more inclined to vote Republican.

A lot of Republicans tend to think that racism doesn't exist anymore so they pan programs like Affirmative Action when programs like this are UNFORTUNATELY STILL NECESSARY. I still know FAR more people who get jobs based on their whiteness and not on their qualifications. I live in the South in a blood red state. AA is designed to promote fairness in the workplace, to give EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES to minorities who might not have been given these opportunities otherwise.

And yes, all Democrats know about Byrd. I've read his history. I've read his comments. I have informed myself about him as much as possible. Do I agree with what he was? Of course not. Do I think people can change? Maybe. He says he has. We'll see. I have mixed feelings about him. But he is one person. Unfortunately, I know of far more Klan members who are Republicans.

And as far as the man above who discusses having guns...gun control is not anti-guns. Having a waiting period is not anti-guns. I don't own a gun either, but plan on getting one in the future and guess what? I'm a liberal Democrat. Stop spinning and actually listen to arguments.

Maybe many racists vote Republican, but I believe many, if not MORE, vote Democrat.

You see, the Democrats take a condescending and paternalistic view of minorities. They claim to be compassionate and tolerant, but in reality they want control over minorities. As a gay man, I hear this all the time from the left, how they want to "help" me and "take care" of me, because I am basically too pathetic to take care of myself.

Yes, Democrats claim to be all for gay rights, but what if I feel threatened by a homophobe and want to carry a gun? Liberals and Democrats would FLIP OUT - there is NO WAY they would approve of me defending myself. They want me to call 911 and wait for the police to come and help me - by that time it's too late, I'll either be dead or in a coma from being beat up by homophobes. For the left, GOD FORBID that I should be able to take care of myself - that lessens THEIR power to control.

So SCREW the left; I'll take care of myself, thankyouverymuch - the last thing I want is a bunch of p ussies like them "helping" me.

The left wants to "help" minorities the same way slave masters "helped" their slaves back in the 1800s - by keeping ME dependent on THEM. They can go to hell.

Love, Jack

This isn't really a good argument. The fact that most racists support pro-choice doesn't make them Republicans.
