I am a Buddhist, so I guess that I qualify for this answer. I remember a story where a Christian and a Buddhist were discussing Jesus, and the Christian was explaining several of His traits. The Buddhist then exclaimed that these were also Buddhist traits.

I tend to look at Christianity from the point of view that it comes out of Judaism, so the theology of the two aren't all that different, while Buddhism emerges from Hinduism. Both cosmologies tended to develop independent of each other, which is fine as this is also true of the religions of Africa and the Americas. Given Buddhism's lack of concern over the nature of God or gods, we would then focus on the commonalities of the two. There is a great deal of overlap between them, so from my perspective, I see Christianity as a good thing when divorced from a lot of the crap that it has accumulated over its 2000 year history.

It's kind of sad to see some Christians clash with other religions simply due to a difference of belief in cosmology. As I used to be a Christian myself, I know where this comes from, and it's one of the reasons that I left the Church. I believe that religion is meant to improve both the individual and society as a whole, and I lament that some Christians choose to ignore the word of Christ when He said (based on my memory), "If one is not against me, then he is with me." I do not see where my Buddhist beliefs will be against Christ's message of love and good will to all men.

Hope that helps with your question.

Like the first poster said, Jesus stated that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. No one comes to the Father except through Him....meaning that one must accept Jesus in order to be saved.

"Those who fear going to hell, accept religion.
Those who are spiritual, have already been to hell."

Christ-ianity, as I see it, is another religion with followers who prescribe to the notion that theirs is the only one true religion, that the entity to which was the name sake of their religion is the one and only messenger from the spirit world, and the one and only conduit for which to pass from the earthly relm to the heavenly relm.

That is why I wish there was a new religion, --Godianity.
Recognizing that God sends messages to mankind in many ways, from many people, and that everyone can embrace God and Godianity for the sake of a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father.

(btw, I claim no alignment to any religion.
I claim understanding of the truth in all religions.
--I'm Spiritual).

I am a Christian. Christianity is the name given to those who follow Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Through Him we have salvation for our souls. There is no other name under heaven whereby men can be saved.
