A pregnant New York woman who collapsed Saturday at Fenway Park and later died after giving birth to a boy had an underlying heart condition, a family member said.

Denise Quickenton, 29, and her husband, Todd, drove from their home in Schenectady, N.Y., to watch the Red Sox, a monthly ritual for them, although she was now seven months on.

“She was disappointed that she wouldn’t be able to make a couple of the games this year,” said her brother, Jeff Roberge. “They loved the Red Sox, loved Boston.”

Roberge said his sister complained of feeling hot during the game. The couple then walked to the concourse, where they sat in front of a misting fan.

“They were right next to the medical station there,” Roberge said. “They didn’t realize they were going to need it. Todd looked away and when he looked back, Dee was having the attack at that point and basically slipped away instantly.”

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center doctors performed an emergency Cesarean section and saved her baby boy, Max. Roberge said the couple met in 2001 while performing community theater.

A fan did die after being removed for heat exhaustion, but she apparently had a preexisting heart condition:

It was at Saturday's game. This article doesn't talk about her heart condition, but her brother is said that she did have problems before this incident.

Watched the game on TV and there was no mention of such a thing. Probably a few people fainted because the Indians thumped them.
