Uh, why don't you edit your question to give us a little more detail?
Who is "they" and how do "they" know you don't have a router?
What is it that you are trying to accomplish? What is your goal?
Should I presume you are trying to have internet access in more than one room, but you do not have the equipment to do this?
What do you want to know?
Please tell me, it's driving me crazy!!

A router is a box that goes between your cable modem (or ADSL modem) and your LAN...It usually also acts as a hub...Make sure you find a picture of the rear of the router to make sure it has enough connectors for all the work stations on your LAN...
