We don't know too much about Jesus as a child. He had several (step?) brothers and sisters, and probably had an extended family. He grew up in Nazareth, and probably assisted his father Joseph, who was a carpenter, or possibly a stonemason (there are questions about the original wordage), or maybe even as a simple laborer. The remains of a large city have recently been discovered near Nazareth which would have been built about this time, so he may have even worked on it. Joseph disappears from the Bible in Jesus' early years, so it's possible he died when Jesus was young.

I believe he had a very normal childhood. Now he still performed intellectual miracles within the temple. Many times as a child he spoke to the priests in the Temple on what they thought were issues far beyond his age. But he is God. They had no idea. He was a carpenter later on. I loved the scene in the "Passion" where he designed a table that required chairs to sit at. His mother, Mary, thought he was crazy. Funny scene. I do think that for the most part it was a normal childhood until his calling from the Father to leave and preach the word to his people.

Only the Bible has the answer to that - not authors of fiction. The Bible tells us that Jesus lived with his mother Mary and earthly father Joseph, who worked as a carpenter. (However, in the original Greek narratives, Joseph was described as "technicos" - a technician of some sort. For some reason, the gospel writers decided to call him a carpenter.)

The family life of Jesus would've probably been typical for a Jewish family living in ancient times. I would suggest reading Anne Rice's "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt," which is Rice's rendition of what Jesus' childhood was like at the age of seven.

Took up carpentry like his earthly father Joseph. He had brothers and sisters. Nothing else is said about him until he was 12 years old. Then at age 30 he got baptized and began to preach for 3 1/2 years.

Jesus spent his years before His public ministry, in relative obscurity. He quietly worked with His earthly parents, obeying them, as all children should obey their parents.
(He always set a good example.) But then, He was perfect, so He could do no evil.

Protestants believe that he had natural brothers and sisters, Catholics don't. Some say he was married to Mary Magdaline but there is no biblical verification of lthis.
