-Remove the drain bolt on the bottem of the engine (13/16" socket)
-Drain the oil.
-Re-install the drain bolt with a new sealing washer if needed.
-Put the oil drain pan under and remove the oil filter (Spin on, in the front of the motor. I make a ramp out of card board and put it under the filter before removing it, to direct the oil to the side, keeping it off the pipes).
-Dip your finger in oil and wet the o-ring of a new filter and install it until the o-ring touches. Then tighten it 1/4 turn more.
-Oil fill cap is on the right side of the motor (about 1" in diameter with a raised tab for turning).
-Always check oil level with the bike upright (as if you were sitting on it).
-Fill the engine with motorcycle oil up to the top of the oil level sight glass (it's on the same cover below the oil fill cap).
-Start and run the bike for a couple of minutes (to let the oil circulate through the engine and oil filter).
-Stop the bike and let it cool down for a few minutes (to let the oil drain down from the top of the engine).
-If needed, add more oil to cover 3/4 of the oil level sight glass (remember, check with the bike upright).
-After going for a ride, check the oil level using the same procedure.

NB you must replace the compressible washer on the drain plug with a new one.

Use the best oil for the bike, probably fully synthetic. Mobil F1 or something like that.

You have to remove the lower fairings ... then put the bike up on a paddock stand this will make changing the oil so much easier. You will need and oil filter wrench the stock filter is monkey wrenched on their hard! ...

Did my Gixxer for 27.00 and my R1 for 33.00 ... save money do it yourself.

Don't use synthetic oil until your bike has over 5500 miles on the clock...It will hinder the "breaking in" process...Yes it's still breaking in up until about 5000 miles
