"polo wraps," "polos," "wraps," perform virtually the same function as boots. They simply protect the legs superficially (from wounds), and also support the tendons and ligaments which may be strained or torn very easily with rigorous exercise.

Never wrap a horse too tightly, you can cause more damage than harm (they aren't just fun to play with), have someone knowledgeable show you how to put them on or you'll be better off without...:) LOL have fun

I think they are called excercise or shin boots. It really depends on personal preferance as to which ones you buy. They are there to protect the tendons and support the legs, as well as stopping the front legs from getting injured by the hind legs due to overreaching. Just make sure that they aren't on too tight, as it can damage the circulation to the legs. Just a hint- you should be able to fit the tip of your finger in between the boot and the leg, but it should feel snug.

Either that or leg wraps made of stretchy gauze type stuff. In this case, put padding underneath the wrap (about 1cm thick) and make sure the padding can be seen extending from the edges. This makes sure that the pressure is more even, so the wrap won't cut into the leg.

I find boots easier.

LOL!! I know I love playing with the wraps. But that is all I've ever heard them called. Leg wraps. You can also put the wraps on for jumping, racing, or just for any day you have running. You can also use wraps for a horse that has sensitive legs.

Hope this helps!

They're normally called boots. I have a pair. If you get any horse supply magazines, or tack magazines, they have them. You can get them almost anywhere. If you don't get any types of those magazines or catalogs, here's some websites. All of their catalogs are free, I'm sure. The Smith Brothers definately is.

Well, I have a horse game, and you have to buy leg wraps, but they call them gaiters so I think that is what they call them.

Fell free to IM me Maita, if you have more questions.

I use splint boots on the front and back so that if my horse bangs a leg with a hoof she won't get hurt.
