Yes, it is possible. As the brain was repairing itself, apparantly some new connections were made that weren't there before. People with brain injuries can be totally different when they recover. Usually it involves a serious personality change. Good for your friend on his newly found increase in intelligence. Encourage him to take this gift and do something wonderful with it.

Called "knocking some sense into someone". Seriously people can change personalt\ity after a head injury. Your friend is lucky he had a positive change. Some people become aggressive or withdrawn after HI

I have heard of knocking some sense into someone, but I thought is was just an expression. I would like to see some kind of before and after documentation before I would believe it.

The brain will be the final frontier. I would say that he was very lucky. It could have gone the other way.
